💰 OpenAI Startup Fund-Backed Speak Raises $16 Million in Series B-2 Financing, Doubles Valuation for AI Tutor Expansion
👩🏫 Guide for Teachers Using ChatGPT in the Classroom
Nvidia's A100 and H100 machine learning chips are facing export restrictions from the Biden administration, beyond the existing restrictions in China.
These AI semiconductors now require licensing agreements to be sold in certain Middle Eastern countries.
While specific nations were not named in the regulatory filing, these chips power technologies like ChatGPT and other generative AI tools. The US aims to protect its technology from being accessed by countries like China, citing national security concerns.
Speak, a company supported by the OpenAI Startup Fund, has revealed a successful $16 million Series B-2 funding round, which brings their total funding to $63 million and doubles their valuation within a year.
The funding was led by Lachy Groom, and existing major investors including the OpenAI Startup Fund participated, along with new strategic investors such as Dropbox founders Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi.
This funding infusion will facilitate the advancement of Speak's superhuman AI Tutor, aid their expansion into global markets, and enable the hiring of new talent to extend their availability to more regions.
OpenAI is releasing a guide to assist teachers using ChatGPT in their classrooms.
The guide includes suggested prompts, explanations of ChatGPT's functioning and limitations, insights into AI detectors' efficacy, and discussions on bias.
This resource is intended to help educators effectively utilize AI in educational settings while understanding its capabilities and potential challenges.
